Primitiques, Ltd. 739 Mount Road, A2 Aston, PA 19014 www.primitiques.com

Bill and Beth have taken the plunge! We are beyond excited to bring our lines of furniture and accessories to the biggest furniture market in the country- High Point, N.C. Please contact us to make an appointment to see us or just stop by our booth. We are in the American Made Section of the Market Square Suites.

At Primitiques, we skillfully hand make Early American Primitive Furniture (including: Large cupboards, television armoires, bedroom furniture, dining and kitchen furniture, early Butteries, Kitchen Cabinetry, Tables, Ladder-back Chairs), Early Reproduction Wooden Smalls, Upholstered Make-Do Chairs and Sofas/Loveseats, Wooden Bowls, & Lighting. In 2010, we launched our High Country by Primitiques line, which includes instrument-grade tiger maple, cherry and walnut woods and our Town & Country refined paint finishes. We also create custom kitchens and baths from scratch, as well as refinish kitchen/bath cabinetry. We make our own formula of milk paint colors and natural beeswax finish on our painted pieces and custom mix our dyes for our High Country Hardwood pieces.

At Primitiques, Ltd. ®, we take great care to create handmade & hand-painted, heirloom-quality reproduction home furnishings using historic painting techniques & old world woodworking methods to replicate the look & feel of Colonial America. Built to last, our Primitiques are destined to become tomorrow’s antiques. Bill & Beth, an artistic husband & wife team, skillfully attend to every fine detail of this multiple step process to create furniture that is sure to add the warmth & charm of days gone by to your home. Our reproduction furniture is hand made the old fashioned way with quality pegged joints, hand planing, wooden dowels, historic paint techniques & lots of good old-fashioned elbow grease (aka: hand-rubbed finishes). All Primitiques are available in a wide range of home-made milk paints with mild to heavily distressed finishes for that century old feel and look. Primitiques paints with their recipe of non toxic milk paint as well as non-toxic pigmented beeswax so all of our furniture is eco-friendly. We use new lumber and use reclaimed lumber whenever available.

All of our custom pieces go through an extensive, historically accurate process to create the authentic look of true antiques. Beth & her assistant artists then skillfully & loving apply a multiple step finish process to create a museum quality reproduction. Primitiques is capable of filling large orders while still maintaining our hand-made, quality look.

Primitiques have rapidly gained a reputation for being some of the most authentic looking reproductions on the market. This reputation, in part, is due to Beth’s self-taught antique-quality paint finish. In addition, Bill has developed a skilled distressing technique that also has sparked others to try to duplicate our authentic look. There are many talented furniture makers in the field but we believe that what also sets us apart is our discriminating eye for furniture design. Primitiques has gained respect for our original, smart designs.

Although we do replicate authentic antiques, Primitiques designs new pieces to keep our line fresh and exciting. We work closely with interior designers, large and small shops and other customers to create original looks that reflects our customers' unique style. Our customers and retailers always look forward to seeing our latest creations because they have come to expect wonderful new designs, color palettes and inspirational room design ideas.

We are excited about product design and always, always look forward to launching a new line or product. Living with primitive furniture offers us an ongoing “experiment” with how our pieces wear- the practicality of pieces, which easily leads to product development and enhancement. Being parents, we have developed a few products that we believe are kid-friendly and creative. For instance, we made a “mini” hutch table to use as a coffee table/kid activity center as we painted it in a chalkboard top. This table can be flipped up and utilized as an art easel.

At Primitiques, we definitely cater to our customer as every piece we build and paint is completely customized to the customers’ needs. Beth spends a great deal of time walking shop owners through the process of choosing colors, coordinating patterns and reviewing regional trends. We are very, very enthusiastic about what we do and that just lights up all of our faces and seems contagious to our customers!

We look forward to seeing you at the show, Beth and Bill Merryfield

We are pleased to announce that Iain and Iain of YCUK will be representing Monahan Papers for the Autumn/Winter show in London. I know we didn't have any pictures from the last London show but I did find a few more pictures of the NY Show with Monahan Papers and the WONDERFUL desks and table top accessories by Primitiques. I thought I would share a few more of those until I can post the London pictures. Enjoy...

This is the left side of the booth where we had a lot of Halloween Paper hanging. The Monahan Papers line now features 610 designs available in 11" x 17", 13" x 19" and gift wrap rolls 24" x 36". Custom paper is also available up to 42" wide x 150' long. Care to WALLPAPER??? We can make it. Black and white or full color.

The back right of the booth featured an entire series of mixed media Fractur art.

This is center back where we did some Revolutionary War themed paper and it moved into the mixed media Fractur paper. I just love Fractur.

The desks and candle holders are from Primitiques. They are simply WONDERFUL to work with as well as functional for everyday use. These pcs are currently in use in my home but Primitiques can take your order.

WONDERFUL NY EXHIBITORS

You neet the nicest people at the shows. I loved Wendy and Marcia from Tinsel Trading. The booth they had was amazing. While I was Drooling over the product they were showing they were looking in my booth. It was actually quite funny. I was naturally drawn to the wonderful products they have. The old world look and the vintage paper wares. We even laughed over some of the same artwork we both use. If you have never seen this company please check them out. Tinsel Trading is located just a hop skip and a jump from the Javit's center in NY City. Wendy Addison designed a line for Tinsel Trading and it is REALLY WONDERFUL. The quality is superb and the fact that they manufacture it right there in NY is amazing.

Here is Marcia busy at work loading orders.

Here is Wendy and Marcia taking time out for me to take this Photo. Thanks so much girls. I love your work!!!

Holiday Open House - A HUGE HIT!!!

Beth and I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all our wonderful customers!!!! We truly APPRECIATE each and every one of you!!! Our Holiday Open House was a HUGE success. Although we experienced record rains with raging rivers behind the mill in PA the show did go on and due to customer support we will be leaving The Quill and Well show open until Dec. 20th. We will be swapping out our primitive wares once a week (mondays) so please stop back as often as you like.

www.picturetrail.com/thequillandwell

I thought I would a share a few pictures Bill sent me. He took these behind the mill while we were getting ready for the show. Last years rain brought a vehicle floating by... not this year. Thank God. And although it is beautiful to listen to and wonderful to watch the water moves VERY FAST and gets really deep.

It Was A Snow Day... WEEK!!!!!!

So Elizabeth and I flew into the show and were greeeted by snow and then snow and again more snow and Beth. Beth... who was kind enough to pick us up and let us camp at her house for the weekend. Day one was great. Beth took us on a tour of Aston and the neighboring towns and we enjoyed that. We toured her mill and the "Artist Colony" that shares the building with her. Thats my word for it... Artist Colony. This great old mill that has been converted into artist spaces. When I say artist spaces I really mean it. I mean clean and organized spaces where theres a place for every thing and every thing has a place. My STUDIO has places called where it drops is I guess where it goes... today anyways. We'll move it when we need it on another day.

We enjoyed visiting Beth's studio/warehouse/storage/showroom/rooms with piles/packing area/painting areas... space as well. We were upstairs and downstairs. We went this way and that way and there were rooms for different things. Rooms with names and peoples names. Corners of assigned space. I got jealous and I wanted a space so I meandered through everyones space. Its always an adventure when you get to visit someone elses studio and they give you free reign to poke around. I was like a kid in a candy store. Elizabeth managed to find the couch in the breakroom area and kick back with magazines for a while. I on the other hand felt like Marlin Perkins being sponsored by Mutual Of Omaha on a National Geographic adventure into uncharted Amazon territory. Left free to explore and forage for myself. Which I did by the way. I made a point to capture something from just about every room. What can I say... I am a scavenger. It was great UNTIL.... The snow kept coming and coming and coming. Not a few inches but I think we had 28" when all was said and done. Here are a few pictures I took on my phone.

I took this one to show the first snowfall. We came back from setting up the show and this is what greeted us. Poor Bill had to shovel us a path so we could get into the house. We sat in the warm truck laughing while he stood knee high in piles of snow clearing an escape route for us. What a guy.

He cleared enough snow for us to get in, get our luggage and get out. We couldn't even stay at the house. There was toooo much snow. The roads were closing and we were afraid we wouldn't make it back to the show in the morning so off we went again. This time to a hotel close to the show. Here are a few views of the parking lot from my window. It wasn't pretty.

To Be Continued....
